The PaGu Process
JoAnn Falletta is internationally celebrated as a vibrant ambassador for music, an inspiring artistic leader, and a champion of American symphonic music. An effervescent and exuberant figure on the podium, she has been praised by The Washington Post as having “Toscanini’s tight control over ensemble, Walter’s affectionate balancing of inner voices, Stokowski’s gutsy showmanship, and a controlled frenzy worthy of Bernstein.†Acclaimed by The New York Times as “one of the finest conductors of her generationâ€, she serves as the Music Director of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Principal Conductor of the Ulster Orchestra in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Principal Guest Conductor of both the Phoenix Symphony and the Brevard Music Center.
Great baton for smaller / thin hands
I have used the Falletta model baton to conduct ensembles throughout the United States, and they are now the only batons that I can use. The length is on the smaller side, at 14 inches, and I prefer my wood handle to be made of pink ivory. The stick is well balanced, and the grip fits nicely into hands that are smaller; however, I have larger hands, but they are thinner and more slender than most of my counterparts. This baton works perfectly for me. As a side note, I needed one of these for a concert in Florida at the last minute, and Phil got it to my doorstep within a matter of days. He clearly cares about his clientele, and he will continue to get my business (although I, fortunately, haven't broken a baton in a while!)
